I would highly suggest trying tools like Wakamai Fondue to test the supported features.
As a big fan of the folklore in the game Final Fantasy XIV, I’m really excited to see a new typeface being used in the new city Solution Nine, introduced in Dawntrail.
I’ve previously developed other fonts (feel free to check out my GitHub!), but this is my first time developing a variable font from scratch. It’s been super fun, but also challenging at the same time. (Next time, I’ll make sure to develop the masters starting from the extreme points instead of from the middle.)
NeonSky was developed in Glyphs. It has five masters (Thin, Thin Ultra Expanded, Medium, Medium Ultra Expanded, and Black) and 22 instances as static fonts generated via interpolation. If you’re using software that supports variable fonts, I highly recommend using the VF version of the font.
It’s also my first time developing a web page. I learned a lot of HTML, CSS, and even some JavaScript from scratch, thanks to Stack Overflow, CSS-Tricks, MDN, and, last but not least, the designers and developers of League Mono. I feel a little guilty for borrowing a lot of design and script snippets from the demo page of League Mono. I wouldn’t have been able to create this demo page without this reference.
I’m also happy to release the font under the SIL Open Font License v1.1, with the Reserved Font Name NeonSky and NeonSky Stencil. Feel free to give me feedback, and if you’d like, I’d really appreciate a Ko-Fi :)
And again, special thanks to Celes/[@时与悠可](https://weibo.com/u/3506214112) for datamining and collecting reference pictures.
